So my wife and I are looking for a new car.  We are very indecisive people, so this is turning out to be a major task.  At first we were set on getting the Prius Hybrid.  It sounded great on paper and we really want to support hybrid technology.  Well what we really wanted to do was buy an american hybrid car, but unfortunately all the american hybrids are terrible.  They are whats known as a “mild hybrid”and only add 1 or 2 mpg over the regular versions of the vehicles.  So that basically left the Prius and the Civic hybrids.  The Prius got better gas mileage so that was our first choice.  Then we went to drive the vehicles.  You can basically find this out by reading some reviews of the Prius, but we had to Major complaints.  1. the driver seat, its terrible, there is no height adjustment, and the height that set it at is clearly meant for a short person.  I felt like I was sitting on a pedestal while driving and my head nearly hit the ceiling.  There is also no lumbar support at all, and most people complain that after driving the car for 30 minutes their backs started hurting.  2. the back window is totally obscured by the retarded bar they put across the back of the vehicle for a spoiler. My wife (who’s car this is going to be) could barely see out the back and (as reviews have said) there are some rather large blinds spots.  We really wanted to like the Prius, but its totally out.
That left the Civic.  The interior was much more traditional and seemed much more like an actual car.  Drivers seat had height adjustment, and you could see pretty well out the back.  The two downsides with the civic are: 1. the interior color choices.  Some genius thought it would be a good idea to offer blue in place of black.  So with the grey exterior we want, we’d be stuck with an odd blue interior.  (yes, they only give one interior option per exterior color) 2. the engine is whats known as an “power assist” hybrid.  This means that the combustion engine is always powering the vehicle and the electric engine is used to provide extra power when needed to go faster.  I’d much more prefer to be driving off the electric motor most of the time and have the combustion provide the backup.
So that leaves us pretty much still undecided. =0(
