Not to long ago I picked up this device called VUDU.  It’s basically a way to rent movies without having to deal with the exchanging of DVDs, or Pay-per-view.  Actually, its pretty similar to Pay-per-view except it offers a huge selection of movies to choose.  Its like on-demand Netflix.  The box and interface are pretty slick and the picture quality is great.  You may be asking yourself how this is different that Xbox Live, or Apple TV, well its pretty close, but allows you to watch movies instantly istead of waiting for some to download first.  I just signed up to be a beta tester of their latest version, so I’ll keep you updated on what I think.   So far, the only (major as I see it) downside is the price.  The rental charges aren’t really any cheaper than going to a Blockbuster.  Movie rentals through VUDU are only for a 24 hour period, so it really should be something like $1.50.  That is why my wife and I have started using the DVDPlay kiosks in the grocery store quite a bit.  That is really the perfect price I feel, $5 to rent a movie in a video store is f*!#ing crazy if you ask me.
